Mothra is a giant monster who first appeared in IDW Publishing’s 2016 comic book series, Godzilla: Rage Across Time. A giant divine moth that has existed as far back as the Cretaceous period 136 million years ago, Mothra is a benevolent being that dedicates her existence to fending of malicious monsters such as her dark equivalent, Battra. During the Middle Ages when the Black Death spread across Europe, English warriors travelled to her temple and asked for her help, which she obliged. She subsequently battled the supposed source of the infamous infection, Megaguirus.

  1. Mothra herself doesn’t appear in Godzilla: Rage Across Time issue 1, but the Shobijin do. As such, it is more than likely that Mothra opposed the Mongols despite not appearing during the battle.
